Peyton Manning’s NFL Contract

Last Modified Sep 11, 2024 03:07 GMT

Peyton Manning, who is among the greatest quarterbacks to ever grace the football field, was born on March 24, 1976. “The Sheriff” became an icon during his 18-year career. His first 14 seasons were spent with the Indianapolis Colts, while the last 4 saw the legend move higher in altitude to the Denver Broncos. The second son of Archie Manning, and brother to Eli, Peyton comes from the Manning football dynasty.

A first-overall pick for the Colts in 1998, Manning changed the entire complexion of the franchise. From a struggling team to consistent playoff contenders, Peyton led them to 11 playoff appearances, 8 division titles, 3 AFC Championship Games, 2 Super Bowl appearances, and the franchise’s first Super Bowl victory since moving to Indianapolis.

After neck surgery, Manning saw a change in scenery with his shift to Denver. For the Broncos, Manning was just as successful, helping them win the Division title each year he was with them. He also helped them reach two Super Bowls and won the 50th iteration of the event en route to retirement. In the process, Manning became the only starting quarterback to win the Super Bowl for more than one franchise, a feat that has since been repeated by his arch rival, Tom Brady.

One of the most storied careers in the game, Manning holds the record for most MVPs and first-team All-Pro selections with 5 and 7 respectively. He also leads NFL history in 4,000-yard seasons, single-season passing yards, and single-season passing touchdowns. Further, he finished his career third in career passing yards and touchdowns.

After his retirement, Peyton Manning was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2017, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021. Even though Peyton has long retired from the game, let’s look at how much the legend earned in his 18 years in the NFL.
