How Long is Oscar Piastri's Contract?

Oscar Piastri is an Australian racing driver who competes in Formula One for McLaren. Piastri started his career in radio-controlled racing and later picked up kart racing when he was nine. Piastri is the first-ever driver to win three championships under Formula One. He is the 2021 F2 Champion, 2020 F3 Champion, and 2019 Formula Renault Eurocup Champion. Piastri is also a two-time FIA Rookie of the Year winner (2021, 2023) and a three-time Autosport Rookie of the Year Award winner, surpassing two-time winners Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.

He was selected as a reserve driver for Alpine F1 Team after he won the Formula 2 title in 2021 before joining McLaren for the 2022 Formula One season. In 2023, Piastri was confirmed as the new driver for McLaren, replacing Daniel Ricciardo. Piastri partnered with Lando Norris during his debut. Piastri has been victorious two times in the Formula One Championship with 10 podiums to his name. He finished the 2024 Formula One season and ended fourth in the drivers' championship with 292 points, scoring two wins, seven podiums, and one fastest lap during the season. Piastri's points also helped McLaren win the constructor's championship in 2024.

Oscar Piastri Contract

After Fernando Alonso left Alpine in 2022, the team announced that Oscar Piastri would replace the Spaniard in the 2023 Formula One season. However, Piastri denied Alpine’s announcement and claimed he had not been bound by any contract, as per Formula1.com. Later, FIA’s Contract Recognition Board (CRB) ruled against Alpine, after which Piastri announced that he would join McLaren from 2023 onwards. The initial contract with McLaren granted Piastri a reserve role for 2023. On September 2023, McLaren announced their contract extension with Piastri to the end of 2026.
