Born in Madrid, Spain on September 1, 1994, he is the son of Carlos Sainz Sr., a legendary rally driver and two-time World Rally Champion. Growing up in a motorsport-focused family, he was heavily influenced by his father's success but found his passion for single-seater racing by idolizing Fernando Alonso, according to ESPN.

Inspired by Alonso's achievements, Sainz excelled in karting and junior categories before making his F1 debut in 2015 with Toro Rosso. After leaving Toro Rosso in 2017, he has raced for Renault, McLaren, Ferrari, and Williams. As of April 2025, he has secured four F1 Grand Prix (GP) wins, namely the 2022 British GP, 2023 Singapore GP, 2024 Australian GP, and 2024 Mexico City GP, and 27 podium finishes, according to Formula One's official website.
