Franco Colapinto is a professional racing driver who competes in the FIA World Formula 1 Championship. He has been appointed the Alpine F1 team's driver for the 2025 F1 season. He has joined Williams F1 Racing in F1 for the 2024 season, replacing Logan Sargeant. Colapinto was born on May 27, 2003, in Pilar, Buenos Aires. At the age of nine, he began his racing career in karting, where he won several regional championships.

Colapinto got his first taste of success in racing when he won his first title at the 2019 F4 Spanish Championship with the Drivex racing team. In 2022, he moved to the FIA Formula 3 Championship. During his second season, he finished fourth in the standings, which helped him to promote to Formula 2 racing. He made his first F1 debut at the Italian Grand Prix in 2024 and became the first Argentine driver in F1 for 23 years after Gaston Mazzacane’s last debut. He was named Alpine's F1 reserve driver in 2025, but he replaced Jack Doohan following the 2025 Miami Grand Prix.

Franco Colapinto Contract

Franco Colapinto has signed a five-race deal with the Alpine Formula 1 team starting from the 2025 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, as per the reports by Sky Sports F1. This decision was taken by the Alpine F1 team when Jack Doohan was dropped six races into his rookie season.

Colapinto has been signed as a full-time F1 driver for Alpine and will make his first F1 start for the 2025 season at the Imola Circuit alongside teammate Pierre Gasly.
