Christopher Tanev is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2024/25 NHL season. He previously had stints with the Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks, and Calgary Flames. Tanev began his NHL career with the Vancouver Canucks in the 2010–11 season.
He made his debut on January 18, 2011, and scored his first NHL goal in 2013. He signed a five-year contract extension in 2015. In 2020, he joined the Calgary Flames on a four-year deal and was later traded to the Dallas Stars on February 28, 2024, after posting two assists in 19 playoff games.
