Hailing from New South Wales in Australia, Alexander “The Great” Volkanovski is a mixed martial artist who is a former UFC featherweight champion (145 lbs). As of April 7, 2025, he has a professional record of 26 wins and four losses. Volkanovski started his sporting career as a semi-professional rugby league player before moving to mixed martial arts (MMA). He debuted in the UFC in 2016 and rose through the ranks rapidly. In December 2019, he won the UFC Featherweight Championship by defeating Max Holloway and defended the title five times, including against Holloway and Jose Aldo.

In 2023, Volkanovski went through a rough patch, losing to Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria consecutively, with the latter coming at the cost of his Featherweight title. After a recovery and reevaluation stint, he is set to fight Diego Lopes for the vacant Featherweight title at UFC 314 on April 12, 2025, in Miami, Florida.
