“I had to be careful” - Aliff Sor Dechapan says defense played "crucial" role in firefight against Ramadan Ondash

Malaysian-Thai striker Aliff Sor Dechapan used his height and reach advantage, and superior defense to get past tough Lebanese opponent Ramadan ‘The Scorpion’ Ondash last weekend at ONE Fight Night 38: Andrade vs. Baatarkhuu on Prime Video.

Aliff showcased great composure in his unanimous decision victory over a very dangerous foe, and he says his defense and strategy played a major role in one of the biggest victories in his career.

Heading into this three-round barnburner at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Dec. 6, Aliff says he worked specifically on his game plan to deal with Ondash’s fiery offense.

He told the world’s largest martial arts organization in an interview:

“It was crucial for me to stay composed because he has very dangerous punches. And I just couldn’t go in and trade punches with him. I had to be careful.”

Aliff knocked Ondash down in the third round to seal the deal, pulling away on the judges’ scorecards at the final bell.

Malaysian-Thai phenom Aliff Sor Dechapan is coming off his biggest victory yet with his points win over Ramadan ‘The Scorpion’ Ondash at ONE Fight Night 38: Andrade vs. Baatarkhuu on Prime Video last weekend. He is now next in line to face reigning ONE strawweight Muay Thai world champion Prajanchai PK Saenchai.

Aliff was told by Mitch Chilson in his post-fight interview that it was ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong himself who confirmed that the 21-year-old firecracker's next bout will be against Prajanchai for the coveted gold.

Aliff says this fight is a dream come true for him, and that he expects to face the PK Saenchai Muay Thai Gym representative sometime early next year.
