Reigning and undisputed ONE women’s atomweight kickboxing world champion ‘The Queen’ Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom of Thailand hadn’t competed in Muay Thai in two years prior to her fight against Martyna Dominczak of Poland at ONE Fight Night 38: Andrade vs. Baatarkhuu on Prime Video last Friday.

So, the 23-year-old was admittedly feeling a little nervous heading into the contest.

Speaking to the media in the official ONE Fight Night 38: Andrade vs. Baatarkhuu on Prime video post-event interviews, Phetjeeja talked about her mindset heading to the ring to face Dominczak in ‘the art of eight limbs’.

‘The Queen’ said:

“There were some little moments that I felt like I doubted myself, how I would do in this fight, a little anxiety, and like I would catch myself overthinking a little bit because it's been two years and I am fighting in Thailand, so you know, there's some pressure there. But then I just like kind of had to tell myself to stop. It's more of like excitement, if you compare. A little bit of anxiety, a little bit nervous, but more, I would say, I was very excited.”

Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom says Kana rematch possible but sends out warning: “I have to say it will not be easy”

Kana Morimoto was victorious against Stamp Fairtex at ONE 173 last month, so Phetjeeja expects talks of a rematch for the atomweight kickboxing strap to reignite. But ‘The Queen’ says she will have an even better performance against the Japanese star if they ever do meet again in the ring.

Phetjeeja told veteran MMA reporter Nick Atkin before her fight with Dominczak:

“So I’m happy to rematch with Kana any day, but I have to tell her: although she has improved — and I secretly root for her every fight — I have to say it will not be easy. I will be a more difficult task for her one day if we rematch.”

Phetjeeja continued:

“I could see that she really wants the kickboxing belt and yeah. So after that fight, I definitely suspect there could be another rematch between me and Kana. And I think one day I will have to fight Kana again for sure. I feel that she was very sad that she couldn't get the kickboxing belt that day.”
