Joe Rogan recently shared his thoughts on the Merab Dvalishvili vs. Petr Yan title rematch and lauded the Russian fighter for his impeccable performance.Yan and Dvalishvili threw down in an exciting bantamweight title rematch in the main event of UFC 323 last weekend at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Given Dvalishvili's dominant unanimous decision win over Yan in their first encounter at UFC Fight Night 221 in March 2023, many expected 'The Machine' to push 'No Mercy' to his limits again. However, things didn't go as Dvalishvili would've hoped. In their second meeting in the octagon, Yan came out guns blazing and took Dvalishvili into deep waters over five rounds. The Russian fighter managed to neutralize Dvalishvili's wrestling threat and maintained constant pressure with his striking prowess. Yan ultimately won the contest via a dominant unanimous decision and reclaimed the 135-pound championship. In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast with Brendan Allen (JRE MMA Show #171), the UFC commentator lauded Yan's performance against Dvalishvili and said:"F**k, what a masterclass. When you’re going to fight a guy like Merab, that is the masterclass. He put on a clinic... His training camp must’ve been hell, had to be hell, and he looked like it. I saw some videos of it. Some wild strength and conditioning, and plyometrics. He knew what he was in for. That’s the thing, if you’re going to fight a guy like Merab, you know what the mountain is. Are you ready to climb it?"Merab Dvalishvili's coach reacts to Petr Yan loss at UFC 323Coach John Wood recently got honest about his pupil Merab Dvalishvili losing the bantamweight title to Petr Yan in their rematch at UFC 323. While the veteran coach admitted that he was still in the process of coming to terms with the defeat, he thought that Dvalishvili was "winning and controlling" the contest. In an interview with MMA Fighting, Wood shared his two cents on the fight:"Obviously, a very rough weekend. It sucks. It’s a heartbreaker, but it is the sport... I thought we were winning and controlling, and I thought we were pressing and doing what we needed to do. Petr definitely had the bigger moments, and I think that shifted [the fight], and you just don’t know."He added:“It sucks. It’s like waking up from a nightmare. This doesn’t go away. I thought we had the right things going on in this camp, and it was a quick camp, and it was a hard camp. There are a lot of things that go on behind the scenes. But it was Petr’s night."
