Davis Cup History

In the early years, the USA, Great Britain, and Australasia dominated the Davis Cup. Their domination ended when France won their first Davis Cup title in 1927.

In 1969, for the first time, 50 nations from around the world participated in the Davis Cup. In 1974, South Africa became the fifth nation to win the Davis Cup trophy and was followed by Italy, Sweden, and Czechoslovakia.
