Carlos Alcaraz expressed his delight following Spain's win over Germany in the semifinals of the ongoing 2025 Davis Cup Finals in Bologna, Italy. Pablo Carreno Busta, Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martinez all starred for Spain, while the Germans were given a fighting chance by men's singles World No. 3 Alexander Zverev.
On Saturday, November 22, Carreno Busta got proceedings underway with a straight-set yet hard-fought victory against Jan-Lennard Struff. Things were squared up by Zverev shortly though, as he edged Jaume Munar, forcing a decisive doubles clash. Here, Granollers and Martinez registered a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 win over Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz.
Reigning men's singles No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, who withdrew from the 2025 Davis Cup Finals after sustaining a right hamstring edema at the ATP Finals, subsequently took to his Instagram Stories and congratulated his compatriots in Bologna. He also wished them the very best for the final against defending champions Italy, who have made it to the last hurdle despite World No. 2 Jannik Sinner's absence.
"Congratulations! How great! Tomorrow for the Davis Cup trophy!," Alcaraz captioned his Story through a combination of Spanish and emojis.

Carlos Alcaraz's hamstring problem surfaced during his final heartbreak at the ATP Finals. Even though the Spaniard later claimed that the injury did little to hamper his performance in the loss to Jannik Sinner on the day, it would ultimately lead to him withdrawing from Spain's Davis Cup team based on professional medical advice.
Later, the six-time Major champion told Teledeporte that his aim right now is to recover rapidly for his pre-season training and preparation with 2026 on the horizon. He also talked about following Spain's matches at the 2025 Davis Cup Finals, saying:
"Things don’t always turn out the way you want. Now I have to go back home and recover as soon as possible so I can be there for preseason and start the year in the best way possible. I will be supporting the team from home." (translated from Spanish)
