Luka Doncic is a Slovenian professional basketball guard for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2025/26 NBA season. He is from Ljubljana, Slovenia, and was born on February 28, 1999. Luka Doncic played in Europe for teams like Union Olimpija and Real Madrid before he started his NBA career. The Atlanta Hawks drafted him as the third overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft. He was then traded to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for draft rights for Trae Young and a protected first-round pick in the future from the 2019 NBA Draft.
Doncic became the fifth player in NBA history to have at least 20 points, five assists, and five rebounds in his rookie year. Luka Doncic was also the first NBA player to be honored with All-NBA team honors in his first or second season, after Tim Duncan in the 1988-1989 season. During the final day of the 2019–2020 season, he was the youngest NBA player who lead the team in triple-doubles.
