Paige VanZant is an American professional wrestler, Mixed Martial Artist, and author best known for her work in UFC and AEW. She was also involved in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship as a bare-knuckle boxer. She also had stints as an actor featuring in Dancing with the Stars and Chopped.
VanZant was born in Dundee, Oregon, USA on March 26, 1994. Her parents were the owners of a dance studio and she naturally was attracted towards dancing growing up. For about thirteen years, she was brought up training in forms such as ballet, jazz, and hip-hop. She liked riding dirt bikes and fishing during her teenage. She also started appearing in commercials around that time.
Her birth name is Paige Michelle Sletten. Per VanZant, she was bullied in her school for her last name who trolled her by calling her “Slutton” by twisting her last name. Due to the constant bullying, she legally changed her surname to VanZant. She chose this name because she liked the way it sounded. It was the surname of one of the students who came to her parents’ dance studio. VanZant marks her experience of being bullied as one of the reasons for choosing MMA as her choice of sport.
