AEW star Adam Copeland recently spoke about the contract situation behind his WWE deal. The star is a 11-time World Champion in WWE.The Hall of Famer came back from a career ending injury in 2020. He showed up as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match. He then had a great run with the company winning the Rumble match the following year and headlining WrestleMania. He also had some stellar matches against Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, and Finn Balor. The star finally jumped ship to AEW in 2023. During an interview with Inside the Ropes, the star mentioned that although he was negotiating with Vince McMahon, he wasn't sure who was really in-charge in WWE. "For a while there, I didn’t know who was in charge. I just didn’t know, and it was a little confusing. It was right as my contract was coming up. So, you know, my contract was up. I had negotiated with Vince. Then Vince was gone. So I was like, uh, what’s this mean?"Adam detailed that his contract was there but he didn't understand how things would work moving forward. "It was like, 'Okay, well, your contract offer is still there.' I was like, 'Okay, I just got to think about this now.' Because, you know, I've always dealt with him. And that’s just always the way since my second contract on—it’s always been, 'Okay, what do you think? What do you think?' Shake hands. He noted that he spoke with Christian, FTR, and even Chris Jericho. These stars also encouraged him to explore opportunities in AEW and suggested that he would have a better time there. The star detailed that it was a risk either way, but he was enjoying the journey.
