Billy Bowman Jr. plays collegiate football for the Oklahoma Sooners in the Southeastern Conference. He is a football safety and is in his senior year. He joined the Sooners in 2021. Bowman Jr. made the All-Big 12 First Team and was awarded an All-American by CBS Sports/247Sports. In the 2023 season, he started all 13 games at defensive back, led the nation in interception returns for touchdowns with three and 238 yards, and placed second nationally with six interceptions. Before transferring to the University of Oklahoma, Bowman Jr. had committed to play collegiate football at the University of Texas at Austin.

Bowman Jr. received OU's Don Key Award, the program's highest annual accolade, and was selected to the All-SEC Third Team. He chose not to play in the bowl game, but he started all 12 of the regular season games at safety. As a senior, Bowman Jr. caught 86 receptions for 1,207 yards and 15 touchdowns, which helped Ryan win the Class 5A Division I state championship with a 15-0 record.
