Rohit Sharma is a professional cricketer who plays for the Indian National Cricket Team. Sharma moved to Swami Vivekanand International School after his coach Dinesh Lad told him to do it because of the better cricketing facilities. Rohit himself admit that he could not afford the school fees, so his coach got him a scholarship. He started his age-group cricket career as an off-spinner, but made an impact with the bat in school cricket.
Rohit Shamra made his domestic debut in 2005 in Deodhar Trophy. His first First-Class game was in 2006 for New Zealand A, while playing for India A. He scored a fifty in that game. After two years, he made his international debut in 2007 in an ODI game against Ireland. In the same year, he went on to play the inaugural season of the ICC T20 World Cup in South Africa. In the IPL, he has played for the two different franchises: Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians. He has won 6 IPL trophies as of March 2025. He has also won four ICC titles (two as player and two as captain). He has the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2013 Champions Trophy, 2024 T20 World Cup, and 2025 Champions Trophy.

Rohit was born in Bansod, Nagpur to Gurunath Sharma (father) and Purnima Sharma (mother) on April 30, 1987. His father worked as a caretaker of a storehouse for a transport firm in Bhandup.
