The San Antonio Spurs continue their four-game road trip with a stop in New Orleans on Monday evening to face the Pelicans This will be the third of four meetings between the two, with the Spurs taking the first two games.
The Spurs are 15-7 on the season, good for fifth in the West, and coming off a 130-117 loss in Cleveland on Saturday.
Despite missing Victor Wembanyama, San Antonio maintains a strong core anchored by De’Aaron Fox, with additional stability from Devin Vassell and Harrison Barnes. Fox has been the Spurs’ hottest player, averaging 26.8 points over the last ten games, including a streak of nine games with 25 points or more.
The Pelicans, meanwhile, continue to search for stability after a difficult stretch marked by a league-worst 3-21 record. New Orleans enters the game on the back of a six-game losing streak, including a 119-101 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Friday.

Victor Wembanyama, who has missed the last ten games with a left calf strain, is nearing his return. The French phenom joined the team in New Orleans after not traveling at the start of this road trip and was a full participant in Sunday’s practice. He will most likely play in the Spurs’ next NBA Cup quarterfinal against the Lakers.
Jordan McLaughlin is another absentee for Monday’s game due to a hamstring issue, while Luke Kornet faces a late medical checkup for an ankle strain.
Reigning Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle could make a highly anticipated return after being out of the rotation since Nov. 16 with a left hip flexor strain. He’s also listed as questionable.
San Antonio’s recent progress has allowed coach Mitch Johnson to find continuity in his line combinations. Harrison Barnes, Stephon Castle, Bismack Biyombo, De’Aaron Fox and Devin Vassell are expected to be the starters once again.
New Orleans Pelicans Starting Lineups and Depth Chart
For the Pelicans, the main storyline continues to be the absence of Zion Williamson. The star forward will miss his fifth straight game with an adductor strain. Jordan Poole also remains out with a quadriceps injury, while Dejounte Murray is another absentee due to an Achilles issue.
Meanwhile, Herbert Jones is listed as questionable with a calf strain.
James Borrego continues to lean toward the lineup of Trey Murphy, Derik Queen, Saddiq Bey, Bryce McGowens and Jeremiah Fears.
