San Antonio Spurs vs Minnesota Timberwolves preview

The Spurs have been one of the hottest teams in the West even without their superstar Victor Wembanyama. Since his injury, San Antonio has taken six of its last seven games, including a victory over the Denver Nuggets in its previous outing.

The Spurs are in the middle of a four-game road swing and currently sit at 2-1, hoping to close it out at 3-1 Sunday night against a Timberwolves team playing on the second half of a back-to-back.

Minnesota edged the Boston Celtics 119-115 on Saturday, with Anthony Edwards erupting for 39 points on 50.0% shooting. That win snapped a three-game road skid and came in their first home game after the trip.

The Timberwolves still haven’t beaten a team above .500 this season, and although the Spurs are without Wembanyama, they still pose a serious challenge.

Across their last six games, the Spurs rank sixth in offensive rating and eighth in net rating, with De’Aaron Fox averaging 26.3 points and 7.7 assists per game and Devin Vassell adding 19.3 ppg and 3.2 apg.

Over that same stretch, the Timberwolves sit only 19th in offensive rating but have posted the fifth-best defensive rating while going 3-3.

San Antonio Spurs vs Minnesota Timberwolves prediction

Even though Minnesota enters as the healthier and favored team, we’re leaning toward a Spurs victory. Their revamped guard-driven offense without Wembanyama could be difficult for the Timberwolves to contain, particularly with Minnesota on the second night of a back-to-back.

Our prediction: Spurs win by 12.
