San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama has forced opponents to adjust their defensive strategies when facing him. To prevent the 7-foot-5 forward from dominating, teams aggressively send double teams to slow him down. The Spurs have countered that with more outside shots.
The Spurs are already a formidable team, but they can use some more shooting and versatility. To reinforce the roster with floor-spacing forwards, San Antonio might not have to break the bank. It could trade with teams seemingly ready for a fire sale to enter the lottery or shed contracts.
3 San Antonio Spurs trade targets who can complement Victor Wembanyama
#1 Saddiq Bey
With Dejounte Murray yet to play and Zion Williamson dealing with another injury, the Pelicans appear to be heading to the lottery again and could be open to trading one of their versatile forwards.

The San Antonio Spurs could be interested in trading for Saddiq Bey, who is making 41.9% of his shots from deep this season. Bey, who is owed a little over $12 million in the next two years, is a solid defender. The bruising 6-foot-7 forward forced Victor Wembanyama into tough positioning battles twice this season.
Jeremy Sochan, on an expiring contract, and a second-round pick could be enough to land Saddiq Bey.
#2 Sam Hauser
Julian Champagnie has become one of Victor Wembanyama’s favorite kick-out options. Sam Hauser, a better shooter with a championship DNA, could be an interesting replacement for the former undrafted forward.
The Celtics, who shed salaries in the offseason, could be willing to add Hauser, a 41.7% shooter from deep, to that list.
Trading Jeremy Sochan and a 2026 second-round pick could grease the wheels of a trade.
#3 Trey Murphy III
Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs got a front-row ticket to how good Trey Murphy III could be. On Saturday, the sweet-shooting forward dropped 41 points on the Spurs on 15-for-22, including 5-for-11 from deep.
Murphy, a career 38.3% shooter, could take over from Harrison Barnes in the starting lineup and be a part of the Spurs’ long-term core.
Murphy will be expensive, but the Spurs could become legitimate title contenders if they can acquire him. The Spurs could trade Barnes, Jeremy Sochan, players with expiring contracts and two future first-round picks.
New Orleans traded its 2026 first-round pick to the Atlanta Hawks on draft night in June. San Antonio can swap a first-rounder with Atlanta next year, making it an enticing trade partner for New Orleans.
