According to a report by Ashish Mathur of DallasHoopsJournal, Davis is expected to be a trade candidate this season after Harrison left the team last month.

"Davis was born and raised in Chicago. The future Hall of Famer is expected to get traded after the Mavericks fired Nico Harrison as general manager, sources told DallasHoopsJournal," the report reads.

Davis was the Mavericks' biggest piece from the trade that brought their former franchise player, Luka Doncic, to the Lakers in a deal initiated by Harrison last February.

Davis has only played six games this season. He played the first five games with the Mavericks before hurting his calf.

He played against the Lakers on Nov. 28 but missed the Mavericks' 114-110 win against the LA Clippers on Nov. 29.

When he plays, Davis averaged 19.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game this season.

The Mavericks are currently 12th in the Western Conference with a 6-15 record, causing buzz on a possible rebuild this season as they already have the league's top rookie Cooper Flagg.

According to ESPN's Jamal Collier, the Chicago Bulls, Davis' hometown team, had internal talks to bolster their roster by trading for Davis this season.

“The Chicago Bulls have had internal discussions about how to proceed, including conversations about Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis, sources told ESPN, whom they believe could help the team’s porous rim protection and defensive interior,” he reported.

“Davis is from Chicago, and the Bulls have three players on the roster (Ayo Dosunmu, Jevon Carter and Matas Buzelis) who grew up in the area, which is not a coincidence."

Collier added that the Bulls remained relunctant in trading away their young core for Davis.

“However, team sources said the Bulls will not sacrifice any of their young core to execute such a deal until the team is closer to contention," he wrote.

The Bulls have shown great promise this season, starting strong with a lineup led by Josh Giddey, and Nikola Vucevic.

However, the team has since slid to a 9-10 record, after losing seven of their last 10 games.
