After missing eight games in early November because of a hamstring injury, Zion Williamson has a new injury that will keep him out again. A former ESPN analyst has shared the ugly truth on Williamson's career, as he spends more time on the sidelines once again.

In a post on X, business analyst Darren Rovell crunched the numbers of how much the New Orleans Pelicans have paid Williamson while recovering from injury. The former No. 1 pick has missed more games than he has played, which means he earns more when he's not on the court.

"Zion Williamson is out another three weeks. For those scoring at home, he now will have missed more than 55% of games in his career. He will have been paid $129.9M by the team, meaning the Pelicans had paid him roughly $71.4M while he was on the bench," Rovell tweeted.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Zion Williamson has been diagnosed with a strained adductor and will be out indefinitely. Williamson will be reevaluated in three weeks, but there's no guarantee that he's going to get cleared during that timeline.

Williamson has only played in 10 games this season, averaging 22.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists. However, the New Orleans Pelicans have gone 1-9 in those games, so he barely had any impact on winning.

The 25-year-old powerhouse entered the season in the best shape of his career, but it seems like his body continues to fail him. It's his second muscle-related injury this season. He missed eight games because of a strained hamstring in early November.

It might be time for the New Orleans Pelicans to part ways with Zion Williamson and focus on their young stars like Derik Queen, Jeremiah Fears and Trey Murphy III. CBS Sports' Sam Quinn believes it might be time to part ways with Williamson and trade him this season.

Quinn added that Williamson's time as a max player is done, with his new team possibly focusing on his overall health. He suggested limiting his minutes to preserve his body while also allowing him to play more games, though it's not a guarantee that he'll be healthy.

"He should be playing 20 minutes a game on a better, more stable team at a substantially reduced salary. He's not a max player anymore. So long as he remains with the Pelicans, he's burdened by those expectations," Quinn wrote.

Another point made by Quinn was that Williamson's contract was designed to save his team money by putting in clauses regarding his weight and games played.
