Sports commentators Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith met up on Sunday, sparking curiosity among fans about what the two might have talked about — with many assuming LeBron James was the obvious topic, given how often they critique him.

Bayless shared a photo on X of himself and Smith, noting they had dinner with his wife, Ernestine, in Beverly Hills and spent time catching up while talking about the past, present and future.

Still, plenty of fans insisted the conversation had to have centered on LeBron James, who is in a headline-heavy 23rd NBA season.

Revisiting last season’s LeBron James-Stephen A. Smith beef, including Skip Bayless’ reaction

In March last season, the NBA world buzzed over LeBron James confronting Stephen A. Smith about comments Smith made regarding his son and Lakers teammate, Bronny James.

Since then, Smith and James have taken shots at each other, including through posts online.

And Skip Bayless backed Smith afterward, labeling James’ confrontation “pretty cowardly.”

“How weak was that, on LeBron’s part, to choose that time and that place to deliver that message?" Bayless said (per Yard Barker). "This was a flat-out ambush, a drive-by, a premeditated and calculated move by LeBron James to show up Stephen A. in front of the NBA world while giving Stephen A. no face-to-face time to respond.”

"LeBron didn’t want any rebuttal. This was just a delusionally, irrationally, insanely proud pop, telling off Stephen A. Smith, knowing this debate was rigged. Frankly, that was pretty cowardly.”

Smith later said he would have “immediately swung” on James if their exchange had escalated physically, and the Lakers star noticed the comment, responding by posting a clip of Smith practicing boxing on Instagram and poking fun at his clumsy movements.
