The Golden State Warriors have been struggling recently, dropping three of their past four matchups. Still, even with the on-court issues and surrounding controversy, the group appears to maintain strong chemistry, which was evident in a new clip featuring Jonathan Kuminga and Gary Payton II.In the Warriors’ Thursday matchup against the 76ers in Philadelphia, a fan covertly held up a phone and recorded the Golden State bench, capturing an exchange between the two players.Payton seemed to be telling Kuminga about a woman she encountered on Instagram, and Kuminga enthusiastically responded, unaware the moment was being filmed:“Oh, you gotta hit!”Kuminga then seemed frustrated once he realized the interaction had been caught on camera. The playful exchange contrasted with an otherwise tough outing for Golden State, which fell at the buzzer to the 76ers after VJ Edgecombe hit the decisive shot and Tyrese Maxey delivered the game-saving block.Jonathan Kuminga logged 20 minutes in the matchup, finishing with nine points on 4-of-12 shooting along with six rebounds and two assists. Payton saw only three minutes of action.Warriors insider says Jonathan Kuminga trade ‘inevitable’A major storyline of the offseason centered on Jonathan Kuminga's future with Golden State, but he and the team ultimately reached a two-year, $48.5 million extension that features a team option in the second season.Although he opened the year strong -- posting double-digit scoring in eight of the Warriors’ first 13 games -- he later suffered an injury and has not looked the same in his three games since returning.Warriors insider Tim Kawakami, writing for the San Francisco Standard, said he believes “the next five weeks” will amplify Golden State’s midseason tension involving Kuminga, whom he still views as a trade asset.“The Warriors want to win games, they want Kuminga to maintain or increase his value, and they want to have the option to either trade him for something very good or to keep him and know he’ll be a major plus into the spring,” he wrote. He also noted that the Warriors want to avoid reaching Jan. 15 with the league aware that they’re desperate to move a disengaged Kuminga at minimal value.Jonathan Kuminga cannot be traded until Jan. 15, giving the Warriors only a few weeks before the Feb. 5 trade deadline.
