Trae Young was one of many athletes who reacted to Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield's post following his dust-up with Houston Texans safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson on Monday night.

Mayfield led the Buccaneers to a 20-19 win over the Texans. In the fourth quarter, after he was tackled by Will Anderson, Mayfield initially clutched his left hamstring, but quickly jumped up and went face-to-face with Gardner-Johnson. After the game, he shared a series of images of their confrontation on Instagram.

"Built different. 10 toes down," Mayfield captioned the post.

Young and Mayfield were the faces of the Oklahoma Sooners basketball and football teams, respectively, during the 2017-18 season.

Young led the Sooners to the NCAA Tournament as a freshman, but they lost to Rhode Island 83-78 in overtime in the first round. He was drafted fifth overall by the Dallas Mavericks before getting traded to the Atlanta Hawks for Luka Doncic on the same night.

Mayfield, on the other hand, helped Oklahoma win the BIG 12 championship over TCU. The Sooners were the second seed in the College Football Playoff but lost to Georgia in the Rose Bowl. Mayfield won the Heisman Trophy that year and was drafted first by the Cleveland Browns.

Trae Young is in a feud with Patrick Beverley

After Patrick Beverley claimed that All-Stars take things for granted, Trae Young responded by telling him to let players speak for themselves. Beverley didn't appreciate the comment and took several shots at the Atlanta Hawks star.

He pointed out that Young had made the playoffs just three times in his career and claimed that some players don't want to play in Atlanta because of the guard's attitude.

The remarks didn't sit well with Young, who responded with a 12-minute video. The four-time All-Star took aim at Beverley's his emotional celebration at winning a play-in game.

"We not even gonna talk about how we celebrate play-in wins," Young said. "I win play-in games on the road, and I'm ready to get to the playoffs. You win play-in games at home, and you standing on the scorer's table acting like it's a championship. We celebrate wins different, too."

Young also reiterated that if Beverley mentioned All-Stars, then they should be the ones speaking. He then invited the former NBA player to a Hawks game.
