Hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg visited the LA Lakers’ training facility about a week ago for an exclusive interview with Luka Doncic. The “Drop It Like It’s Hot” star opened the chat by asking the Slovenian about his opinion of Los Angeles. Doncic said that he has been treated well by the people and that he loved the weather and the beaches. When pressed if Doncic surfs, the superstar point guard responded:“No. I can’t. It’s in my contract. I would like to, but I can’t.”Luka Doncic added that he is more familiar with wakeboarding instead of traditional surfing. He continued that he learned the sport long ago, but could not enjoy it now that he lives in Los Angeles.Athletes often have prohibitions in their contracts that prevent them from engaging in high-risk activities that could derail or end their careers. In 2015, the Washington Post listed boxing, professional wrestling, motorcycling, sky-diving and hang-gliding as some of the interests NBA players are barred from doing.Luka Doncic signed a three-year, $161.3 million contract in August. He has a $57.7 million player option in the summer of 2028. The MVP contender did not share if the contract he signed with the Dallas Mavericks in 2021 had the same prohibitions.Luka Doncic tells Snoop Dogg he was “more than shocked” after news of trade reached himNBA insider Shams Charania stunned the sporting world when he broke the news in February that the Dallas Mavericks traded Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers. Charania said in past interviews that he had trouble believing his sources that the deal had happened. In the interview with Snoop Dogg, the rapper expressed the same confusion and disbelief when the news came out. When asked about what he felt following the trade, Doncic replied:“More than shocked. I didn’t really know. It was night. … I didn’t know what to think.”Doncic thought he would retire in Dallas and told reporters in February that closing that chapter in his career would take time. The Slovenian has moved on, though. He has embraced Los Angeles, its people and the beaches.
