Curry wore the Nike "Ionescrew" Sabrina 3 during Monday's 134-117 win over the Utah Jazz. Ionescu was in attendance at Chase Center, and Curry told reporters after the game that he once tried to sign the New York Liberty star to the Curry Brand.

"We have a long history, she’s from the Bay, and just obviously following her career," Curry said. "There was a time when she was coming out of school, and I was trying to get her to Curry Brand. It’s hard to get an Oregon Duck to leave Nike. But it was cool.

"It was kind of a coincidence, I didn’t know she was going to be here until yesterday, and I just had a pair of shoes, and it was a great moment. She’s doing amazing things, she’s a champ and to honor another Bay Area athlete that’s doing amazing stuff."

Steph Curry is in "sneaker free agency" after parting ways with Under Armour early this month. According to journalist Nick DePaula, Monday's game was the first time that the four-time NBA champion wore Nike shoes since 2013.

The sneaker giant released Ionescu's third signature sneakers in July. It is currently available at Nike's website and at select retail shops in different colorways, starting at $135 in adult sizes and $100 in big kids' sizes.

Steph Curry comments on his sneaker choices: "It's fun to honor certain eras"

Steph Curry arrived at Chase Center on Monday wearing the Nike Air Jordan 12 "Flu Game" colorway. Michael Jordan wore the sneakers during the Chicago Bulls' iconic Game 5 win over the Utah Jazz in the 1997 NBA Finals. He later switched to the Nike Air Jordan 14 "Last Shot" colorway during warm-ups, which was worn by Jordan during championship-clinching Game 6 of the 1998 finals.

Following the win against Utah, Curry shared the reason behind his "intentional" shoe choices.

"It’s kind of cool understanding the history of the game and the themes around certain teams we’re playing," Curry said. "So I brought out the 'Flu Games' and the 'Final Shots.' And then played in the Sabrina 3. ... Everybody should be on alert. I’m calling everybody.

"Trying to get some good product but it's just fun to, again, honor certain eras, moments in the game, current athletes who are doing great things and just having fun with it."

All eyes are on Steph Curry's sneaker choices as he is currently the biggest sneaker free agent. The Golden State Warriors next face the Houston Rockets in NBA Cup action on Wednesday.
