The San Antonio Spurs won't have reigning Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle for some time due to injury. ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Tuesday that Castle will miss at least one to two weeks because of a left hip flexor strain. Losing the second-year guard is already a tough blow for the Spurs.

In the 2025-26 NBA season, Castle has been one of the best options for San Antonio. He's averaging 17.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 7.5 assists through 13 games. The 6-foot-6 guard is the team's third-leading scorer behind De'Aaron Fox and Victor Wembanyama.

The Spurs may need to find ways to replicate the same level of production from other players.

Aside from Castle, the Spurs are also dealing with a significant setback. Wembanyama has been ruled out for at least two to three weeks with a left calf strain. The star big man suffered the injury on Friday's 109-108 loss against the Golden State Warriors.

Wemby had 26 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three blocks against the Warriors. Unfortunately for the Spurs, that wasn't enough to beat the Steph Curry-led group.

San Antonio has had the best start to their campaign for the first time in a while. The team is 9-4 and went on a five-game winning streak to start the season. Fans are hoping that the Spurs won't lose as many games without Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle in the lineup.

Fortunately for the group, they have Fox, who has suited up for five games. The one-time All-Star missed the first eight games of the year due to a hamstring injury.

Fox believes in the Spurs' talent after losing Stephon Castle and Victor Wembanyama

On Sunday, the Spurs faced the Sacramento Kings without Victor Wembanyama. To add to that, Stephon Castle had to leave in the middle of the game due to his hip injury. Even without two of their best players, the team overcame the challenge of facing the Kings with a 123-110 win.

After the game, Fox spoke to the media and told them about how he believes in the talent the group has, even without Wemby and Castle.

“Obviously, we want everybody to be healthy, but the way that this team is built, we're able to withstand those types of things,” Fox said.
“We have an extremely talented group.”

San Antonio secured the win, thanks to Fox's strong performance. The former Kings star had 28 points and 11 assists. Stephon Castle, on the other hand, was on the floor for only 15 minutes. Castle finished the game with four points and five assists on 25% shooting.

The Spurs' next game will be against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday.
