Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green committed a flagrant-1 foul on Memphis Grizzlies center Santi Aldama in the third quarter on Monday. Green lost the ball at midcourt, allowing the Spaniard to pick up the ball for a transition attack. As Aldama went for a layup, Green held him by the neck before pulling him down to the floor.

Jaren Jackson Jr. rushed to check on his teammate before saying something to the four-time champ. Unfazed, Green responded to Jackson’s comments:

“SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT THE F**K UP! SHUT UP.”

The replay showed that Green held Aldama to soften the fall and to prevent a potential injury. While the 7-footer writhed on the floor holding his neck, Green could not resist calling him “soft as f**k.” The foul and the remark prompted Jackson, who signed a five-year, $205 million contract with the Grizzlies in July, to react.

Green avoided a flagrant foul-2, which would have meant an automatic ejection. When Aldama missed the two free throws, Green trolled him by looking at his opponent while galloping to the basket.

The Warriors got away with a potential ejection by Draymond Green, who was crucial in the game. He had five rebounds and two assists in the third quarter, which the Dubs won 36-24. Green also helped contain Jaren Jackson Jr., who was held to 16 points.

Draymond Green fouled out, but not before helping Warriors to 131-118 win

Draymond Green committed his sixth foul when he collided with Jaren Jackson Jr. with 7:32 left in the fourth quarter. Warriors coach Steve Kerr challenged the call to no avail. The 2017 Defensive Player of the Year exited with seven points, 10 rebounds, four assists and one steal.

As he so often does, Green’s numbers did not tell the full story of his impact. He was the de facto playmaker who made the Warriors’ offense hum. On defense, he mostly spent time guarding Jaren Jackson Jr. Green had no trouble chasing guards when forced to switch.

Draymond Green fouled out, but not before finishing with a game-high +18 net rating. He was a key reason the Warriors improved their record to 3-1.
