The Portland Trail Blazers and the LA Lakers squared off at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Monday. The Lakers came into the game severely depleted, with just seven active roster players available to suit up. Coach JJ Redick was forced to shake up the starting lineup with both Luka Doncic and Marcus Smart sidelined.

Austin Reaves was joined in the starting lineup by Rui Hachimura, Deandre Ayton, Jake LaRavia, and Jarred Vanderbilt. On the flip side, Toumani Camara, Deni Avdija, Donovan Clingan, Jrue Holiday, and Shaedon Sharpe started for the Blazers.

The Lakers started strongly, with Austin Reaves helping the team build a 21-18 lead with 13 quick points. The Blazers tried different defenders and coverages on Reaves, but weren't able to slow him down.

The Lakers' bench failed to protect the lead built by Reaves and the starters. The Blazers closed the opening period on an 8-1 run and took a 28-24 lead into the second quarter.

The Lakers fell apart defensively, struggling to secure rebounds on the defensive end. The Blazers punished the hosts on every small opportunity they got, which enabled them to a 57-51 lead at half-time.

Much like the first two quarters, the Lakers were outplayed by the Blazers in the third as well. Costly turnovers, cold shooting from beyond the arc, and a dismal effort on the boards left them trailing 89-77 heading into the final period.

Despite Reaves' best efforts, the Lakers fell to a 122-108 loss and suffered their second defeat of the season. Meanwhile, the Blazers got a huge offensive lift from Deni Avdija, Jrue Holiday, and Jeremi Grant, with all three players scoring in excess of 20 points.
