The Portland Trail Blazers and Golden State Warriors locked horns in an NBA Cup Game at the Chase Center on Friday. Both Blazers and Warriors entered the contest with a 1-1 record in the in-season tournament, while holding records of 6-9 and 9-8 in the regular season, respectively.

The Blazers started the game with a lineup comprising Sidy Cissoko, Deni Avdija, Jerami Grant, Toumani Camara and Donovan Clingan. On the flip side, the Warriors' starting lineup featured Steph Curry, Moses Moody, Will Richard, Jimmy Butler and Draymond.

Donovan Clingan hurt the Warriors in the opening five minutes of the game and scored six quick points. Golden State struggled to defend without fouling and committed seven fouls in the first seven minutes. The Blazers shot nine free throws in the first quarter and converted six of those.

The Blazers outplayed the Warriors in paint points (20-12), offensive rebounds (6-1) and second chance points (10-2). As a result, the visitors took a 35-28 lead into the second quarter as the Warriors lacked energy in their first home game after a six-game road trip.

Curry exploded in the second quarter, helping the Warriors enter the break with a 72-65 lead. He scored 18 points in the period on a perfect 6 of 6 shooting, including 5 of 5 from 3-point range. Brandin Podziemski was terrific off the bench, contributing 15 points and two steals after two quarters.

The Warriors were shooting 56% from the field, including 43% from beyond the arc after three quarters. Despite their brilliant offensive display, the hosts led by just three points (97-94) as their defense allowed five Blazers players to score in excess of 13 points. Portland's Cidy Sissoko and Donovan Clingan got rolling in the third quarter, keeping the visitors within striking distance.

Caleb Love enjoyed a career night and shattered the hearts of expectant fans inside the Chase Center. His 26-point burst off the bench handed Golden State their first home loss, dropping them to 9-9 on the season.
