Randle, now playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves, attended Madison Square Garden on Wednesday as the Knicks rolled to a 137-114 victory. But when the Randle family arrived at the arena, Kendra noticed that her favorite security guard wasn’t there.

“Last night at MSG I was walking to my seat and I stopped to look for my favorite security guard, George Kohn, who was always in the same section every game for the past 6 years,” she wrote on X. “I didn’t see him so at halftime I asked a coworker where he was and she said unfortunately he passed.”

Kendra shared her heartbreak over the news and said she wanted to reach out to the Kohn family to offer support.

“I am so heartbroken 💔 George always greeted my boys and I with the biggest smile and would say “ hi Mrs Randle” every single game and get us to our seats. George’s bright smile and contagious energy always put me at ease. If anyone knows his family please reach out to me🥹💔.”

Julius Randle was a three-time All-Star during his tenure with the Knicks, which lasted from 2019 to 2024. In the 2024 offseason, he was traded for Karl-Anthony Towns, a move that helped the Knicks and Timberwolves reach their respective conference finals in 2025.

Julius Randle discusses habit change since leaving the Knicks

When the trade to Minnesota first happened, Julius Randle said the transition was difficult. But after more than a year, he’s made several lifestyle changes, including giving up marijuana.

In a September appearance on the “Change Your Brain Every Day” podcast, Randle said he quit smoking marijuana and now feels mentally clearer.

“I think it's so important to have a clear mind and being able to be strong mentally without anything influencing you as far as a substance, or a vice or whatever,” he said.

Randle said the substance had made him emotionally distant, even from his wife Kendra.

"It made me distant and not present. I'd kinda just be in my own world and I'm like, 'No, I'm fine.' Like this is what it is," Randle said. "My wife would be like 'No, you're just not present. We're having a conversation and you're not really present.'"

Julius Randle is enjoying a stellar year with the Timberwolves, averaging a career-high 26.8 points on a career-best 56.0% shooting this season.
