Victor Wembanyama has not played since Nov. 16 after getting diagnosed with a strained right calf. Wembanyama wasn't given a clear timetable for his return, but it seems like he could be coming back against the LA Lakers. NBA fans are losing it online since Wemby could be the latest player to make his return from injury versus the purple and gold franchise. According to Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News, Wembanyama was a full participant in the Spurs' practice on Sunday. He's not expected to play tomorrow against the New Orleans Pelicans, but there's a chance he could be ready on Wednesday. The Spurs are set to face the Lakers at Crypto.com Arena for the quarterfinals of the 2025 Emirates NBA Cup. Wembanyama is still reportedly "iffy" about a potential return, though coach Mitch Johnson told the media last week that the superstar has been telling him he wants to return during the NBA Cup week. While San Antonio Spurs fans are excited about the prospect of seeing Victor Wembanyama back on the court, LA Lakers fans have accepted their fate. The Lakers always had the theory that injured players want to return against their team, and this is just the latest example of it.Here are some of the comments on X, formerly known as Twitter. Wembanyama was having an MVP-like campaign before going down with the calf injury. He was averaging 26.2 points, 12.9 rebounds and 4.0 assists in his first 12 games. In his absence, De'Aaron Fox and Devin Vassell have picked up the slack, especially with Stephon Castle also out with an injury. The Spurs are 7-3 since Wemby got sidelined.Dylan Harper glad to see Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle back in practiceDylan Harper glad to see Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle back in practice. Harper didn't disclose what happened on Sunday, but he's just glad to have Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle back healthy and ready."It's definitely amazing to see everyone back working," Harper said. "We did well without those guys. Now, when they come back, you'll see a whole other team."While Wembanyama hasn't been cleared against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday, Castle is expected to make his return after a nine-game absence.
