The Detroit Pistons’ 13-game win streak is nearing historic heights. After losing 116-95 to Cleveland at home on Oct. 28, the 'Bad Boys' have won every game since. Following a 122-117 win over the Pacers on Monday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, they’ve leveled the longest winning streak the franchise has had since the 2004 championship team.

Pistons legend Isiah Thomas, who knows a little something about winning, sent the team a message of support.

“Let it be known 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥,” he wrote in reply to the Pistons’ Instagram post celebrating the major milestone.

Thomas also shared multiple posts on his Instagram Story to mark the occasion.

The legendary point guard led the Pistons to their first NBA championship in the 1989-90 season. Interestingly, Thomas also played a key role in Detroit’s 13-game winning streak that season.

Now, Cade Cunningham's team has equaled the historic 13-game feat, but the All-Star guard still has a long way to go until bringing the ultimate prize back to Motown.

For the first time in years, there’s a genuine sense of optimism in Detroit. A victory on Wednesday against the Boston Celtics would not only extend their unbeaten streak, but could also enter them into franchise folklore with a new record.

Cade Cunningham Makes Major Admission on Pistons’ Struggles Despite Winning Streak

The Detroit Pistons’ ascent to the top of the East is the season’s most surprising story, but Cade Cunningham wasn’t entirely happy with the team’s performance against the Pacers and warned that they are not out of the woods yet.

Cunningham admitted that the win was nowhere near the standard they’ve set recently, as they nearly squandered a 19-point lead.

“It’s not like I’ve been saying, ‘I need to get the best winning streak in Pistons history.’ None of us have been thinking like that,” he said. “We just want to be the best version of ourselves, and tonight was not the best version of us. So I’m not happy about that.”

Cunningham had a team-high 24 points, but was harassed into 8-for-18 shooting. He also committed three turnovers.

The fact that the Pistons are ahead of the chasing pack after 17 games is something few could have predicted, yet Cunningham does not seem to be getting carried away. If they want to go a long way and compete for a championship, the mistakes need to be few to none.
