The Denver Nuggets defeated the Phoenix Suns, 133-111, to win their home opener at the Ball Arena. It was also the Nuggets' first win of the season since they lost their opener to the Golden State Warriors in overtime on Oct. 23. Nikola Jokic messed around and dropped another triple-double for the second straight game. Jokic finished with 14 points, 14 rebounds and 15 assists, looking for his teammates to start the game. He didn't even attempt a single shot in the first quarter. Jamal Murray had a team-high 23 points, plus six rebounds and five assists. Christian Braun scored 20 points, while Cameron Johnson torched his former team with 15 points and four rebounds. Aaron Gordon cooled off after his 50-point effort against Golden State, contributing 17 points and three steals. On the other hand, Devin Booker had a game-high 31 points for the Suns. He also had seven assists, but his eight turnoves was painful. Grayson Allen put up 17 points and five assists, while Dillon Brooks added 15 points in 18 shots. Jokic first attempted a shot with four minutes left in the second quarter, and the Nuggets ahead by 11 points. The three-time MVP got fouled and made both free throws for his first two points of the game. He made his first field goal a couple of minutes later with an easy layup. It was over from there as the Nuggets neve relinquised the lead and dominated the Suns the rest of the way.
