Philadelphia 76ers rookie VJ Edgecombe could potentially miss his first-ever NBA game against the Miami Heat on Sunday. The guard was added to the injury list with left calf tightness, following the 76ers' win over the Bucks on Thursday.
Edgecombe has started all 15 of Philadelphia's games this season and has been one of their best performers after Tyrese Maxey, averaging 15.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. He’s also shooting 42.3% from the field at home while logging 36.0 minutes per contest.
However, the guard is being monitored before their game against the Heat as he continues to nurse his calf injury. He will be allowed to take part in Sunday’s shootaround, and his status for the game will be determined accordingly.
At the time of writing, the rookie joins Joel Embiid, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Adem Bona on the injury report. Oubre remains sidelined with an LCL sprain suffered during the 76ers’ 114–105 loss to the Detroit Pistons earlier this month and is expected to miss at least two weeks.

Similarly, Adem Bona last appeared against the Pistons and has been ruled out with an ankle injury. Meanwhile, Joel Embiid continues to deal with a knee issue. Sunday’s game will mark his seventh straight absence, and no return date has been set.
With the 76ers already missing key names from their starting lineup, they will be sweating over VJ Edgecombe's availability. The rookie is the only player besides Tyrese Maxey to have started every game this season and remains an important piece for Philadelphia.
As the team continues to search for consistency and prepares to host a Heat squad on a three-game winning streak, the 76ers will be hoping Edgecombe is available. A win would give them back-to-back victories for the first time this month.
