Austin Reaves has enjoyed a stellar start to the season with the Lakers, dropping another great performance against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday. After the game, he offered credit to his former teammate, Anthony Davis, for his All-Star caliber ascension as the two crossed paths again at Crypto.com Arena.The Lakers guard gave his flowers to AD during a post-game interview after being asked about the jersey swap following the game."I mean, he's one of the best players to have ever touched a basketball. I don't know why he wanted my jersey but for me to get his it is pretty fun," Reaves said. "I got a lot of love for AD. He is a big reason that I am where I am right now."Reaves continued to credit his former teammate, revealing how the Center helped him during his early stages."From day one, he was telling me to be myself, don't be anybody else, continue to work and really just be myslef on the court, so I owe him a lot, I wish him nothing but the best," Reaves continued.Anthony Davis was among the senior members of the team when Reaves joined the Lakers in 2021. The pair won the NBA Cup in 2023 and spent three and a half seasons together before Davis was traded to the Mavericks in February.Since AD's departure, Reaves has grown exponentially alongside Luka Doncic and has been on another level this season.
