LA Lakers coach JJ Redick dropped a brutal message for his team after their close 108-106 win over the Utah Jazz on Sunday night. Redick wasn't too thrilled about the Lakers' shooting woes, especially from beyond the arc. The coach knows a thing or two about shooting since he's one of the greatest ever in that department. Speaking to reporters after the game, Redick shared his frustration with the Lakers' inability to knock down shots consistently. He encouraged his players to continue shooting, but he also wants them to be confident. He also knew that they were not living up to their potential as a shooting team. "I told the guys this after the game: We're literally one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA right now," Redick said. "I don't think that's who we are. We've gotta make shots and we've gotta shoot 'em with confidence."According to official NBA.com stats, the LA Lakers are the fifth-worst 3-point shooting team in the league at 33.3%. They are slightly ahead of woeful teams, such as the Memphis Grizzlies, Portland Trail Blazers, Dallas Mavericks and Indiana Pacers. The good news for the Lakers is that they are tied with the Denver Nuggets for the best field goal shooting percentage in the league at 50.6%. They just need to knock down shots from beyond the arc, as pointed out by JJ Redick. The second-year coach also praised the team's defense, which he credited for giving them the win against the Utah Jazz. The Lakers are slowly improving their defense, climbing up to 14th in overall defensive rating. James played his second game of the season on Sunday versus the same Jazz team, this time in Salt Lake City. James was limited to just 30 minutes in his first game back from sciatica, but it jumped to nearly 35 minutes on Sunday. However, coach JJ Redick isn't going to overwork the 40-year-old superstar and is planning to give him rest throughout the season. According to Lakers Nation, Redick is in constant communication with "The King" and his longtime personal trainer, Mike Mancias, regarding his schedule. James missed the first 14 games of the season and will be turning 41 years old next month.
