Draymond Green got into an altercation with a fan during the Golden State Warriors' 124-106 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday. Green has explained his side of the story and why the Angel Reese-inspired insults got under his skin.
Speaking on "The Draymond Green Show," the former Defensive Player of the Year found the joke funny at first since he missed multiple putback attempts in one possession. However, the fan continued to heckle him, calling him Angel Reese, which led to the confrontation.
"I knew exactly what you were talking about," Green said. "By the way, to use Angel Reese's name as a negative connotation, I really don't like that for the young queen because she's done, what she's done to become who she is. ... But there also gets to a point where as a man with four children, soon to be five, once you start to add the different fillers onto your Angel Reese at a certain point, now you're disrespecting me as a man."
The four-time NBA champ added:

"You get in these situations where fans, they like to get a bit disrespectful, and like I said, no disrespect to Angel Reese, but you're not going to continue to just calling me a woman. That's not going to work. Enjoy the game, watch the game, cheer your team on. To continue to yell to me that I'm a woman, that just ain't going to work."
Draymond Green also credited referee Courtney Kirkland for making things under control and telling him that they knew what was happening. The fan didn't do anymore after a warning from the officials, as the Golden State Warriors earned their ninth win of the season.
Pelicans fan comment on Draymond Green altercation

The fan who was heckling Draymond Green spoke to ESPN after the game to share his comments about what happened. Sam Green, no relation to Draymond, was not afraid to say that he was a little rattled after going face-to-face with the brute enforcer.
"I wasn't using profanity, and for him to walk 12 feet off the court to come and get in my face like that, it was a little unnerving," Sam said.
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr preferred if security was much quicker to warn the fan not to alienate the players. Kerr was happy that things didn't escalate too much, and Green was able to keep his composure.
