The New York Knicks will face the Toronto Raptors in the NBA Cup quarterfinal at the Scotiabank Arena on Tuesday. However, they may be without Karl-Anthony Towns, which would be a significant setback for New York.
Towns missed out on the Knicks' 106-100 win over the Orlando Magic on Saturday with a calf injury. That same issue now puts his availability against the Raptors in serious doubt, raising major concerns for the Knicks.
Despite dealing with calf tightness, KAT reportedly participated in Monday’s practice, a promising sign for New York. Still, his status for the Emirates Cup quarterfinal remains a game-time decision, leaving the Knicks anxiously waiting on Mike Brown’s call.
Aside from KAT, the Knicks will also be without Landry Shamet, Miles McBride and Pacome Dadiet for the NBA Cup matchup. Shamet is sidelined for four weeks with a shoulder injury, while McBride and Dadiet are both out due to left ankle sprains.

Though those injuries leave the Knicks short-handed, it’s KAT’s potential absence that would impact them the most. He’s been a mainstay in the lineup and their most effective two-way player this season, averaging 22.5 points and 11.9 rebounds per game.
While New York hopes to have him back in time for the Emirates Cup game, the team should still feel confident about its chances. The Knicks have been on a roll, winning eight of their last ten games and coming in on a three-game win streak.
Meanwhile, Toronto has lost three straight and is without key contributor RJ Barrett. Still, the Raptors went 4–0 to reach the quarterfinals, so the Knicks will need to be at their best to advance.
