Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry is expected to miss some time due to a left quadriceps contusion. NBA insider Anthony Slater said that the team being eliminated from the NBA Cup could benefit Curry's recovery.

On Tuesday's "NBA Today," Slater gave an update on Curry's availability. The Warriors will face the OKC Thunder on Tuesday and will have a three-game road trip that begins Thursday against the Philadelphia 76ers.

"You will not see him tonight," Slater said (Timestamp: 1:40). "You may not see him on the road trip. That’s still to be determined. I saw him in the weight room the other night. He’s wearing a leg sleeve over that thigh contusion. He’s doing the bike. He’s doing some weight stuff, but he hasn’t been on the court."

Slater added that the 37-year-old star remains focused on his conditioning amid his recovery process. The NBA insider said that Curry could have extra recovery and rest as the Warriors will have a four-day break because the team did not qualify for the knockout rounds of the NBA Cup. Golden State finished last in West Group C with a 1-3 record.

"He's kinda obssessed in keeping his body in as good a condition as possible to get back as quick as possible," Slater added. "But he's still a litlle bit away. And after this road trip, they have a four-day break during that Cup week because they’re not in the Cup. And that could be a good use for not only to Steph, but a lot of these veterans."

Curry injured his right quad late in the fourth quarter of the Warriors' 104-100 loss to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. An MRI the following day revealed that the four-time NBA champion suffered a quad contusion and a muscle strain, which was not the worst outcome.

The Warriors did not put a specific timetable on his return, but said that Curry will be re-evaluated on Thursday.

When could Warriors star Steph Curry return?

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry's return has no specific date. The team has only previously announced his injury re-evaluation date. With NBA insider Anthony Slater's report on Tuesday, it appears he could miss more time depending on the results of the injury re-assessment.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said on Friday that the team is taking Curry's injury "by the week."

Following Friday's game in Philadelphia, Golden State will face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday and the Chicago Bulls on Monday. After that, the Warriors will have a critical four-day break.

Curry could return in time for Golden State's home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Dec. 12. That would be a little over two weeks since his injury.
