Windhorst said that the Bucks reached out to the New York Knicks to explore a trade for Antetokounmpo. He also added that the forward is committed to staying in Milwaukee this season but might leave next season.

“The Bucks called the Knicks and asked for an offer for Giannis Antetokounmpo, because Giannis said, 'I want to be a Knick.' .... Guys, Giannis has asked to be traded already,” Windhorst said.

“It appears Giannis committed himself for the season to the Bucks,” he added. “But the Bucks are not good. This year, when Giannis hasn't played, the Bucks are 1-5. When he has played, they're 9-8. Would his viewpoint change? I don't know.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo sparked massive trade speculation on Tuesday. He deleted all of his social media activity related to the Bucks since 2021.

Antetokounmpo brought the Bucks their second championship title in 2021 and although they won the NBA Cup in 2024, he wants more. After the team exited the playoffs last season, he reportedly questioned if his chances at another title might be elsewhere.

He is averaging 30.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game.

What’s next for Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks?

Giannis Antetokounmpo has yet to officially demand a trade away from Milwaukee. However, the team’s recent performance, two wins in 10 games, has been a cause of worry, with Antetokounmpo ringing the bell for the team to be focused.

The Bucks (9-13) know that an ambitious Antetokounmpo won’t remain if he doesn’t feel the team can give him another chance at a second title. Decisive changes have to be made for the team to remain competitive.

They face the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday at home. Then they will also host the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday.
