Brooklyn Nets star Michael Porter Jr said he used to defeat top female college basketball players when he was a teenager and that he would have been able to dominate in the WNBA when he was in eighth grade.MPJ recalled the story during a guest appearance on the "Ball in the Family" podcast on Wednesday. When Lonzo Ball said he would have gone "crazy" on the court against WNBA players when he was in ninth grade, Porter went a step further."I'm probably going with 8th grade because I have real experience doing this. I played my sisters. They played at the University of Missouri, and I was still a young kid. They had me playing on the scout team, and they had a few WNBA players on their team, like Sophie Cunningham and a couple others," Porter said."I was in the 7th or 8th grade, going crazy. So, I have real-life experience. It's just a difference, and I wish this would stop being a conversation because it should be common sense. I appreciate common sense. I feel sometimes that's lost a little bit."This is not the first time that Michael Porter Jr. has discussed the comparisons between men's and women's basketball. The Nets star landed in trouble with fans in the past for the statements he had made about the WNBA."I'm the biggest fan of the WNBA" - When Michael Porter Jr. responded to backlash over criticism of women's leagueDuring a livestream with popular streamer "Plaqueboymax" on Aug. 29, Michael Porter Jr. spoke about men's and women's basketball. The Nets star implied that a WNBA All-Star team with Olympians would lose to a team of male high school players."If the WNBA All-Star team, if the Olympic team played the McDonald's All-American high school players, it's one of them things, bro. You can't dance around it. When I was in high school... If we play the WNBA All-Star team, that, no disrespect, bro. No disrespect, bro. I'm not even gonna say it."The Nets star was quick to make amends in an interview with Brian Lewis of the New York Post on Sept. 23."I'm the biggest fan of the WNBA," Porter said. "I grew up with Sophie Cunningham. We talked about being able to chop it up & talk on a podcast."Michael Porter Jr. and Sophie Cunningham have known each other since their teenage days. They were both raised in Missouri and have been friends for a long time.
