This past Thursday, ESPN's Ryan Clark drew flak from netizens who were not pleased by his criticism of Louisiana governor Jeff Landry. On "First Take," Clark slammed Landry for requesting LSU to honor controversial political activist Charlie Kirk with a statue on their campus.

In reaction to these comments made by Clark, fans called for his dismissal from ESPN. Harper, however, had a different opinion.

Harper, who was relentless on the defensive end during his multi-titled NBA career, responded to two more netizens who went after Clark on social media.

When one netizen drew up a list of offenses that Clark supposedly made over the past four months, Harper pointed out that the former Pittsburgh Steelers safety was highly capable at his job.

"Your opinion but his very good at what he do so keep hating because of a opinion," Harper commented.

Meanwhile, another netizen called Clark "the voice of black men who never matured psychologically." Again, the former Chicago Bulls guard stood on his argument regarding free speech.

"It’s his opinion so like you’ve an opinion get over his….." Harper fired back.

Opinions on Kirk, who was fatally shot while engaging with an audience at Utah Valley University in September, have widely varied since his passing. Clark had no qualms with offering his take on Kirk via his platform on television, while Harper did not hesitate to defend Clark's freedom of expression.
