Luka Doncic Mocked With Brutal "Nico" and "Mavericks Reject" Chants by Hostile Hawks Crowd

On Saturday, Luka Doncic and the LA Lakers saw their five-game winning streak come to an end as the Atlanta Hawks dealt them a 122-102 loss. From the start of the game, it wasn't just the Hawks that gave Doncic a tough time. The fans inside State Farm Arena did so, too.

During the first quarter of the Lakers-Hawks game, Doncic went to the foul line for a pair of free throws. As he put his shots up, the Hawks crowd heckled him with chants like "Nico" and "Mavericks reject."

Whether it was the crowd's active engagement or some other reason, Doncic missed both free throw attempts. Those would be the only two misses of the Slovenian guard from the charity stripe, as he made four more attempts the rest of the way.

Though Doncic has been averaging an absured 40.0 points per game in his first five outings this season, the Hawks' defense brought him back down to earth on Saturday, limiting him to "just" 22 points on 7-for-17 shooting from the field.

As a collective unit, the Lakers were also a far cry from their average of 119.6 points per game. They also gave up about six more points more than they usually allow their opponents to score.

This loss to the Hawks is a less-than-ideal start to the Lakers' five-game road trip, which will also feature matchups with the league-leading Oklahoma City Thunder and the Giannis Antetokounmpo-led Milwaukee Bucks. Doncic and the rest of the Lakers will have to figure out how to get back to their winning ways when they resume this road trip against the Charlotte Hornets on Monday.

Mavs GM Nico Harrison shuns autograph request from fan wearing Luka Doncic jersey

It has been seven months since the blockbuster Doncic trade went down, but the emotional residue of that monumental event apparently lingers.

In a viral clip posted last week, Mavs GM Nico Harrison is seen signing autographs for fans at American Airlines Center, his team's home venue. For one reason or another, he skipped a young fan wearing a Doncic jersey.

There's no way to ascertain whether Harrison did this on purpose. However, it's crystal clear that fans across the globe have not forgotten the legacy of Doncic, not to mention the crucial role that Harrison played in moving him out of Dallas.
