The LA Clippers are going through one of the worst stretches of the entire Kawhi Leonard era, dropping 15 of their last 18 games. After their latest 140-123 loss to the Miami Heat, Kendrick Perkins openly criticized Leonard.

LeBron James’ former teammate did not hold back. He didn’t mince words when calling Leonard the worst free agent signing in league history. With the Clippers losing their fifth straight game, Perkins took a hard look at Leonard’s time in Los Angeles and mocked how it has played out.

“Kawhi Leonard is one of the worst free agent signings in NBA history,” Perkins said on the Road Trippin’ Show. “He has set the Clippers back 10 to 15 years. I don’t know where they go from here.”

“You get Kawhi Leonard, by the way, only played 277 games out of 492 since being in a Clipper uniform… They’ve paid him over $300 million… They were supposed to be looking the Lakers eye-to-eye.”

Perkins argued that Kawhi Leonard has been a poor investment for the franchise because of how often he has been unavailable. He also blamed Leonard for the Clippers losing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Perkins also disclosed that Leonard wanted another established star beside him when he arrived and showed very little belief in the team’s young core, including SGA. The Clippers front office felt compelled to meet those demands and traded for Paul George.

Despite the Clippers’ struggles, Kawhi Leonard is actually putting together one of his strongest seasons in LA since his first year with the team. He is averaging 26.4 points along with 5.5 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game.

The LA Clippers just can’t seem to catch a break. Earlier in the season, they were hit with the tough news that Bradley Beal would miss the rest of the year because of an injury. Not long after, things got even harder as Ty Lue’s team dropped 15 of their next 18 games.

Kawhi Leonard admitted that the mood in the locker room has been low and everyone is desperate to turn things around.

“Everybody wants to try to get a win and we’re not finding one at the moment,” Leonard said.

The upcoming stretch will not give the Clippers much confidence either. Their remaining four-game road trip puts them up against teams that are all performing better than they are, with three of those opponents having records better than .500.
