The Boston Celtics defeated the LA Lakers 126-105 on Friday at TD Garden in Boston.
Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 30 points, eight rebounds and eight assists on 10-for-22 shooting, including 3-for-7 from 3-point range. Derrick White finished with 19 points, six assists and five rebounds on 7-for-14 shooting (5-for-10 on 3-pointers). Jordan Walsh added 17 points on 6-for-7 shooting (4-for-5 from downtown).
Payton Pritchard had 15 points and six assists on 6-for-13 shooting (3-for-7 from the 3-point line). Sam Hauser contributed 12 points off the bench, while Neemias Queta chipped in 10 points.
Austin Reaves led the Lakers with 36 points and eight assists on 9-for-18 shooting, including 3-for-8 from 3-point range. Gabe Vincent scored 18 points on 5-for-10 shooting (4-for-8 on 3-pointers). Rui Hachimura and Nick Smith Jr. added 13 points apiece.

With the win, the Celtics are now on a four-game winning streak to improve to 14-9. Boston has won nine of its last 11 games. Meanwhile, the Lakers dropped to 16-6. Coming into the game, LA was No. 2 in the Western Conference.
Both teams were on the second night of a back-to-back. On Thursday, Boston had a 146-101 win over the Washington Wizards, while LA defeated the Toronto Raptors 123-120.
Lakers stars LeBron James (right sciatica and left foot joint arthritis) and Luka Doncic (personal reasons) sat out Friday's loss. The game was the first of two meetings between the Lakers and the Celtics this season, and they next face each other on Feb. 22 in Los Angeles.

The Boston Celtics had an early 12-point lead over the LA Lakers, and led by as many as 22 in the opening quarter. At the end of the period, Boston was up 39-17.
The Celtics increased their lead to 29 in the second quarter. At halftime, they led 69-46. Jaylen Brown and Derrick White scored 11 points apiece in the first half to lead Boston. On the other end, Austin Reaves and Gabe Vincent each had 12 points for LA.
The Lakers outscored the Celtics 36-28 in the third quarter to trim Boston's lead to 15 (97-82) heading into the final frame. Reaves scored 16 points in the third, while Brown had 15 points.
The Celtics started the fourth quarter on a 9-0 run with three straight 3-pointers by Jordan Walsh, White and Sam Hauser to go back up by 24 (106-82). With Boston leading 113-90 at the 6:38 mark of the fourth period, Lakers coach JJ Redick emptied his bench and pulled out his starters.
Both teams return to action on Sunday. The Celtics face the Toronto Raptors, while the Lakers battle the Philadelphia 76ers.
