The LA Lakers received a troubling injury update on LeBron James ahead of their regular-season game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday. The four-time league MVP was ruled out after being listed as questionable on the injury report due to left foot injury management. The veteran forward was in action during the Lakers' 129-119 NBA Cup win over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday.

James played 34 minutes, finishing with 13 points, five rebounds, seven assists and one steal, while shooting 5 of 13 from the floor, including 2 of 6 from beyond the arc. The Lakers superstar will miss his first game since making his season debut less than two weeks ago.

A final confirmation on James' status was given by Lakers coach JJ Redick ahead of tip off. With the four-time NBA champion slowly finding his rhythm with four consecutive appearances, the Lakers fans were hoping for the perennial All-Star to suit up once again on Sunday.
