The LA Lakers continue to face an uphill battle with injuries, as Austin Reaves is the latest player to have a significant setback. LA's breakout star missed Monday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers with a groin ailment. Many assumed the Lakers rested him after he carried a heavy workload in the first seven games.
However, Reaves has appeared on the injury report for the second consecutive time ahead of Wednesday's marquee game against the San Antonio Spurs. He was first listed as questionable before being downgraded to out, citing right groin soreness, joining five others on the Lakers' injury report.
Reaves tried to play through it, but the medical staff advised him not to after Wednesday's shootaround.
Fortunately for the LA Lakers, Luka Doncic isn't on the injury list. He's off the report after also missing Monday's contest, his fourth of the season. Doncic had missed three games between Oct. 26 to Oct. 31 with left finger and left leg injuries. LA rested him against Portland due to those ailments after playing on Sunday against the Heat and on Friday against Memphis.

Jaxson Hayes is the other recently active player on the injury report. The 7-footer rolled his ankle on Monday against the Trail Blazers in the fourth quarter and never re-entered the game. Hayes was probable ahead of Wednesday's contest, citing a right ankle sprain. He is upgraded to available before tip off.
Meanwhile, Maxi Kleber, LeBron James, Adou Thiero and Gabe Vincent remain sidelined. Kleber, who is dealing with an abdominal muscle strain and has yet to make his season debut, nearly returned on Monday. He was questionable but downgraded to out. LA is listing him as out for this game.
James continues nursing sciatica and is without an official timetable. There are no updates on Thiero, either, who is ramping up from a knee injury. The LA Lakers recalled him from South Bay (G League team) before the game against Memphis, but his status hasn't been upgraded on the main roster.
Vincent, meanwhile, could miss up to three more weeks with a left ankle sprain he sustained on Oct. 26 against Sacramento.
