The LA Clippers and Phoenix Suns crossed swords in the only regular-season game on Thursday. Both teams arrived for the contest in desperate need of a win to boost their confidence. The Clippers (3-4) and Suns (3-5) remained outside the top six in the Western Conference standings.The starting lineups were different for both teams from their previous games. The Clippers were without Kawhi Leonard and James Harden, while Bradley Beal returned. Beal was joined in the starting lineup by Nicolas Batum, Derrick Jones Jr., Kris Dunn and Ivica Zubac.Jalen Green made his Suns debut after missing the first eight games of the season. He was slotted directly in the starting lineup alongside Devin Booker, Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neale and Mark Williams.Jalen Green opened his account for Phoenix with a layup and then knocked down a step-back 3-pointer. The Suns trailed 13-11 despite Green's hot start. Devin Booker joined the party and completed a 3-point play to put the Suns ahead 19-15. Booker was on a heater and scored 11 points in the opening quarter.Bradley Beal missed his first four shots from the floor before getting off the mark with a baseline jumper. Ivica Zubac shouldered the offensive burden for the Clippers, who trailed 31-27 after the first quarter.Green showed no rust in his first professional game after missing significant time. He snapped the Clippers' 8-0 run in the second quarter by drilling a 3-pointer, while his drive and kick game was on full display. Despite Green and Booker combining for 30 first-half points, the Clippers entered the break with a 51-48 lead by winning the second quarter 24-17.The Suns came out of the halftime break firing on all cylinders. The hosts hit the Clippers with a 13-4 run and took a 61-55 lead. The third quarter was all about Phoenix's dominance as Booker and Co. won the period by a 40-23 margin and took a commanding 88-74 lead into the final quarter.The writing was on the wall, and the fourth quarter was a mere formality to make things official. Jalen Green created a Suns record for most 3-pointers made on franchise debut, finishing with 29 points.
