Timothy Chalamet is an avid NY Knicks fan who doesn't shy away from expressing his love for the his favorite team and the game of basketball in public. On Monday, the A-lister joined Carmelo Anthony on his "7PM in Brooklyn" podcast, where he reacalled the time he snubbed the Met Gala to watch NY basketball.
One of Melo's co-hosts on the episode, Kazeem Famyuide, told Chalamet that his decision to ditch the Met Gala in May solidified him as a great fan in the community. (Timestamp: 13:09)
"I had to be locked in man. I mean that Knicks run last year was the most fun period of my life," Chalamet said. "Those four months, I am not even kidding."
Later, the A-lister dubbed Jalen Brunson as the anti-superstar for the New York squad due to his characteristics.

"I feel like Brunson is the perfect anti-superstar to New York," Chalamet said.
Famyuide added to Chalamet's perception of the Knicks' star guard. He said that Jalen Brunson is like every other man, but also has the superstar within him.
Timothee Chalamet had skipped the Met Gala to attend Game 1 of the Boston Celtics vs New York Knicks' conference semifinals held on May 6. New York secured the first game in the series in a thrilling 108-105 overtime victory.
They went on to beat the Celtics 4-2 and face the Pacers in the Conference Finals. The Pacers beat them 2-4 to punch their tickets to the NBA Finals, where they lost to the OKC Thunder in Game 7.

The New York Knicks have been excellent this season. They are 18-7 and are the second-place team in the East standings. They defeated the Orlando Magic 132-120 in the tournament's semifinal on Saturday.
NY will now face the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Cup Finals on Tuesday. The Spurs reached the Finals after beating the OKC Thunder (111-109) in the semifinals. It was Thunder's only second loss of the season which brought their record down to 24-2.
Brunson is the leader for the orange and blue this season. He is averaging 28.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game on 48.7% shooting. The Spurs, on the other hand, are led by Victor Wembanyama. The French giant played against the Thunder on a minutes restriction as it was his first game after missing the Spurs' last12 matchups because of a calf strain.
According to CBS Sports, the winner of the 2025 NBA Cup will receive a handsome sum of $530,933 per player.
